I love the colours, and the cooler weather, but I'm always sad to see my garden finished for the year. There's just a few more things to bring in for the winter, and a lot of leaf raking to do.
I woke up to a peaceful, steady rain this morning. This is the view from my patio doors. I was working on a painting that wasn't going where I wanted it to go...but it kinda fits with the raindrops. The leaves from my maple tree are starting to fall...Fall is a happy-sad season. I love the colours, and the cooler weather, but I'm always sad to see my garden finished for the year. There's just a few more things to bring in for the winter, and a lot of leaf raking to do. I picture the earth as a watercolour painting. In the fall, the colours are washed away, and in the spring, they are washed back in again. A good day for a cup of tea.....or coffee, if you prefer! Or a book to read...these are mostly cookbooks...yes, this is part of a painting; on a cupboard door; the wood is the real wood. Or a more comprehensive selection! May you always have a rainbow after the rain!

Fall is the most inspiring time . I think it's seeing the beauty all around , that starts me painting again! This is a new painting ; a 12x12" acrylic, of one of my sunflowers. I love the spectacular colours of this one. This 8x10 canvas was painted a couple of years ago. I never get tired of painting sunflowers! Cone flowers are an endless source of inspiration! Here is an 8x10 oil painting of some beauties! I've almost finished this one! A larger piece; 30x40", this one would be a perfect size to hang above a sofa. Time to get back to the drawing board! |
Author I have always been an artist. I studied art at Georgian College in Barrie. I majored in Textile Design, which I chose because it gave me a lot of flexibility in media. Currently, I am painting in acrylic ,and in oil, on canvas. My other passion is gardening, and flowers often show up in my work! Archives
